March 8th, Brussels: As Belgium gears up to celebrate International Women’s Day, Brussels’ public transportation faces major disruptions. Several trade unions are set to participate in the National Day of Action, causing significant impacts on the city’s transport services, reports the Brussels Times.
STIB, the primary public transport operator in Brussels, anticipates widespread disruptions throughout its network. Staff participation in the day’s events is expected to affect bus and tram services, particularly in the city center and on specific routes.
To keep passengers informed, STIB will provide real-time updates through various communication channels, including station screens, the website, app, and social media platforms starting from 06:00. Travelers are advised to explore alternative public transport options while navigating Brussels on March 8th.
However, outside Brussels, other parts of the country are unlikely to experience similar disruptions due to the National Day of Action. SNCB, Belgium’s national rail company, assures the public of uninterrupted service.
Additionally, Flemish and Walloon public transport operators, De Lijn and TEC, do not anticipate significant disruptions, offering reassurance to commuters in those regions.
