Brace yourselves for an unexpected twist in the weather forecast. Brussels Environment, the regional agency, has issued a closure notice for public access to parks, nature reserves, and forests, including the beloved Sonian Forest, starting from 5:00 pm. the Royal Meteorological Institute (RMI) has given an orange warning for potential thunderstorms and floods right in the heart of the country.

Notices outlining this decision will be placed at the entrances to regional parks and Brussels’ forests, and wardens will provide further public guidance. It is also advised to avoid areas near trees throughout the regional territory, given wind gusts could exceed 80 km/h.
After the storm, keep an eye out for Brussels Environment staff doing their cleanup magic at affected spots. Hainaut, Namur, Walloon Brabant, Flemish Brabant, Limburg, Antwerp, and Brussels-Capital Region are in the orange zone from 5 PM to 8 PM.
The restriction will remain in place until Wednesday morning, the regional agency further adds. Post-alert, Brussels Environment staff will conduct a clean-up and safety operation at the affected locations.
A yellow alert has also been issued for the provinces of Liege and East Flanders. This yellow alert lasts until 23:00 across all central regions, from Hainaut province to Limburg.
