Etterbeek Shooting Leaves One Person Injured

Brussels – One person was injured in a shooting that took place near the Chasse junction in Etterbeek, a municipality in the east of Brussels, on Monday night.

The shooting happened around 10:00 PM near the Calypso bar on Avenue Eudore Pirmez, according to the Montgomery police zone, which includes Etterbeek.

Residents reported seeing a large police presence around 11:00 PM near the Chasse junction where the street crosses with Chaussée de Wavre and Avenue de la Chasse.

An ambulance and a vehicle belonging to the mobile emergency group (MUG) were dispatched to the scene to transport the injured person to a nearby hospital.

The motive behind the shooting remains unclear. The local police have confirmed that the Brussels Public Prosecutor’s Office has been notified and may provide more information in the coming days.

Shootings in the eastern part of the Brussels region are uncommon; however, this incident marks the second reported shooting in the Brussels-Capital Region within a week. Last Wednesday, two people were killed, and three others were injured in an incident near Brussels-Midi railway station in Saint-Gilles.

The investigation into the Etterbeek shooting is ongoing. This article will be updated as further details become available.
